For example, Sites 2 and 3 are connected to Site 1, which bas an Internet link. When Site 2 requests a URL ., Site I retrieves it, passes it on to Site 2, and both sites cache it. If Site 3 requests the same URI, Site 1's proxy server forwards it from its local cache, and Site 3 also caches it. Future requests for that URI, are then processed locally without the use of a WAN link.
